Admissions Committee
Statement of Policy
The purpose of the BYU–Pathway Worldwide Admissions Committee is to implement the admissions policies and processes for EnglishConnect, PathwayConnect, and Online Degree students in collaboration with our partner schools and other internal stakeholders.
Recommendation
To scale the admission process for a worldwide audience, BYU–Pathway Worldwide, BYU–Idaho, and Ensign College will establish an Admissions Committee that will:
Collaborate with the appropriate BYU-Pathway Worldwide partners to determine the policies and criteria for admitting EnglishConnect and PathwayConnect students. (See Enrollment Requirements for established criteria.)
Collaborate with BYU-Idaho and Ensign College to determine the policies and criteria for admitting Online Degree students. (See Enrollment Requirements for established criteria.)
Authorize the BYU-Pathway Worldwide Admissions Office to establish processes and procedures for admitting students to the various programs offered by and through BYU-Pathway Worldwide according to established policies and criteria of BYU-Pathway Worldwide and other partner institutions (e.g., EnglishConnect, PathwayConnect, and Online Certificates and Degrees offered by BYU-Idaho and Ensign College).
Provide regular reports and receive training and guidance from BYU–Idaho and Ensign College as defined in the Outcomes and Assessment Plan
Initiate the processes for considering exceptions to individual program admission criteria, as outlined below:
Collect additional information, review circumstances, and counsel with appropriate stakeholders to collect necessary and relevant information for the Admissions Committee to make an informed decision
Seek a decision from the Admissions Committee on individual requests for exceptions to established policies and criteria
Admissions Committee members will be considered voting members for exceptions for all the programs offered through BYU-Pathway Worldwide
For scalability, consistency, and student experience purposes, exceptions for Online Degree students must represent a consensus by all partner schools for the student to be eligible for admission to any Online Degree program
The Admissions Committee membership and program representation will be as defined in Table 1: BYU-Pathway Worldwide Admissions Committee Membership.

Impacts
An intended impact of the BYU–Pathway Worldwide Scalable Transformation is to transfer workload from BYU–Idaho and Ensign College to BYU–Pathway Worldwide. Doing so will streamline the student experience, significantly improving the services provided, enable BYU–Pathway to appropriately align the workload and resources associated with serving online students, and facilitate the partner schools to maintain the proper oversight and guidance to meet their accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Summary
As BYU–Pathway Worlwide delivers its PathwayConnect coursework and the BYU–Idaho and Ensign College online certificate and degree programs to a worldwide population, we strive to take on the associated workload of this effort while appropriately operating under the guidance and direction of our accredited partner schools. We believe this structure of the admissions process and admission committee achieves this important balance.
