General Admissions Policy
BYU-Pathway Worldwide accepts qualified students of various talents and backgrounds for admission into online certificates and degrees from BYU-Idaho and Ensign College. Admission is granted without unlawful discrimination on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, sex (including pregnancy), age, disability, genetic information, or veteran status, provided that the applicant:
meets the institutional admission requirements, including ecclesiastical endorsement requirements and honor code compliance associated with the intended program of enrollment;
resides where BYU-Pathway Worldwide is approved for operation and is not precluded from participation by local laws or restrictions; and
is otherwise qualified as determined by institutional policy.
Earned Admission through PathwayConnect
To be enrolled in BYU-Idaho and Ensign College online certificates and degrees offered through BYU-Pathway Worldwide, students must first successfully complete the PathwayConnect Certificate. PathwayConnect includes foundational academic and religion courses. While students complete PathwayConnect, they are not enrolled in online certificates and degrees offered through BYU-Pathway Worldwide. Although ecclesiastical endorsement is not required to be admitted to PathwayConnect, PathwayConnect students are asked to learn about the Honor Code and strive to live it.
Admissions Requirements
The following requirements will be used to determine eligibility for BYU-Pathway Worldwide programs:
EnglishConnect3
Age: 11 or older (applicants ages 11 through 15 must indicate that they have obtained parental consent)
English Level: Intermediate-low English
Education Level: Not required
PathwayConnect
Age: 18 or older, or ages 16–17 with U.S. high school diploma or equivalent (i.e. GED, state approved home school program, HiSET diploma, IB diploma, etc.)
English Level: Completed EnglishConnect 3 or intermediate-high English
Education Level: Not required for ages 18+. For most locations, ages 16-17 must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Certificates and Degrees
Age: 16 or older with PathwayConnect completion or previous enrollment in an online degree program through BYU-Pathway Worldwide

2024.03.25 – Curriculum Council (Feb 5) updated requirements for catalogs prior to 2025. SETEG approval March 25.
