Program Description

The Family Services Certificate prepares students for entry-level work by developing practical, transferable skills for supporting individuals and families. Coursework emphasizes effective advocacy for the family, helping skills in interpersonal and professional contexts, and foundational teaching skills. Students strengthen their abilities in communication, leadership, and service, with an emphasis on leadership characterized by Christlike attributes. These skills are valuable for roles that involve working directly with individuals and families in community, nonprofit, educational, business, and service-oriented settings.

Potential Employment

Graduates may apply their transferable leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills in entry-level roles that involve working with people and supporting organizational goals. In the human services, graduates may qualify for entry-level positions in roles such as:

  • Human services assistant

  • Juvenile services

  • Childcare worker/teacher

  • Social and human service assistant
