Interpersonal Communications
Course Description
Interpersonal Communications fulfills the Humanities General Education requirement. This course is designed to introduce learners to the many facets of interpersonal communication. Interactive learning environments provide real experience to demonstrate communication styles, listening, emotional intelligence, goal setting, and constructive management of stress and conflict. Learning includes the recognition of the effects of personal attitudes on organizational effectiveness and productivity. Learners will experience real opportunities to demonstrate effectiveness in working with people personally and professionally.
1. Analyze and apply effective methods, principles and strategies of interpersonal communication to complex problems, situations and personal and professional relationships.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of communication behaviors and attitudes based upon personal perceptions and critical reflection.
3. Examine individual values, strengths and gifts and utilize those attributes to improve communication skills.
4. Assess emotional intelligence and identify emotions in yourself and others to facilitate stronger relationships and communication practices.
5. Evaluate and develop conflict resolution strategies to manage and resolve conflict in personal and professional relationships.
