Course Description
In BUS 233, students will learn and apply the skills needed to become a professional in the foodservice industry, which include identifying key culinary trends, the food cycle, F&B business types, best practices for organizational success, hospitality, how to build an effective team, and business planning. Students will explore and implement these principles as you create a business plan for a restaurant based on a trending concept.
1.Assess the type of foodservice career that best suits your personal interests.
2.Handle and prepare food in a safe, sanitary, and ethical manner.
3.Plan a foodservice business using the principles and practices introduced in this course.
4.Make decisions for a food industry establishment using managerial skills required of restaurant professionals and reliable business data.
5.Collaborate effectively with peers, suppliers, managers, and others in the foodservice industry.
6.Identify how living the values you hold as a Latter-day Saint makes you a valuable asset to your employer.
