Transfer Evaluation
Statement of Policy
Transfer Evaluation
BYU-Pathway Worldwide generally accepts college-level transfer credits from regionally accredited colleges and universities on behalf of BYU-Idaho and Ensign College. Courses from institutions that are not regionally accredited are generally not transferable except in circumstances where there is an articulation agreement with a specific institution and program. Courses taken more than ten (10) years ago are subject to the Course Expiration Policy.
Only transfer courses with a grade of C- or higher are eligible for transfer consideration. Additionally, transfer credit may be used to satisfy degree requirements but will not be calculated into the student’s GPA. Transfer courses considered to be out of harmony with established principles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will not be accepted for credit.
Course Expiration Policy
In areas of study in which the subject matter changes rapidly, material in courses taken long before graduation may become obsolete or irrelevant. Courses completed more than ten (10) years ago may not apply to current degree programs. General Education and religion courses taken more than 10 years ago are not considered expired.
Religion Credit
BYU-Pathway Worldwide follows the Institute Course Transfer to Church Schools guidelines. The number of Religion credits required is adjusted for students who bring in non-CES transfer credits as explained on WEBSITE.
Transfer of Religion Credit from Other Universities
Coursework in religious studies from any institution other than a CES school or Institute of Religion will not be accepted towards fulfilling religion requirements.
Block Waivers
BYU-Pathway Worldwide will accept associate and bachelor degrees from US regionally accredited universities waiving general education requirements. Religion cornerstone courses will not be waived. An applied associate of science degree does not count toward waiving GE requirements.
30+ credits (Ricks College and BYU-Idaho credits on expired catalogs and/or transfer credits) will waive one introductory certificate within the Professional Studies degree. Students are still required to meet all graduation requirements for the degree.
Prior Learning Credit
Academic Credit for Prior Learning refers to a process used by post-secondary institutions to award academic credit for a student’s knowledge and expertise acquired through life and professional experience as long as the student’s knowledge and skills are determined to be equivalent to college level learning. For more information see WEBSITE.
Advanced Placement (AP)
Students who complete an AP exam of 3 or above may receive course credit. AP scores must be on an official Advanced Placement transcript. Scores on high school transcripts will not be accepted. For more information see WEBSITE
