Disability Services

Statement of Policy

In providing educational services to students enrolled in BYU-Idaho and Ensign College programs (Online  Degree Students), BYU-Pathway Worldwide follows federal laws regarding access and accommodations  for students with disabilities.

EnglishConnect, PathwayConnect, and Institutes of Religion programs delivered via BYU-Pathway Worldwide are not subject to federal laws regarding accommodations for students with disabilities.

EnglishConnect, PathwayConnect, and Institute Students

While BYU-Pathway Worldwide is not legally required to provide access and accommodations to  EnglishConnect, PathwayConnect, or Institute students with disabilities, it endeavors to provide  reasonable assistance to students who need it. Such assistance is provided voluntarily and at BYU Pathway Worldwide’s sole discretion. The voluntary assistance students receive may differ from  accommodations provided by other institutions.

EnglishConnect, PathwayConnect, and Institute students can request assistance for disabilities through  their student portal.

Online Degree Students

Pursuant to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, BYU-Pathway Worldwide, BYU–Idaho, and  Ensign College (collectively the Institutions) do not discriminate against online degree students with  disabilities and provide reasonable accommodations to otherwise qualified individuals.

Online Degree Students can request accessibility accommodations through their student portal.

Web Accessibility

The Institutions seek to provide online courses, websites, and web-based applications (Web Content)  that are accessible to students with disabilities. The Institutions have developed web accessibility  guidelines to be used in the design and enhancement of Web Content. Students encountering  difficulties accessing Web Content should contact the BYU-Pathway Worldwide Student Wellness  Office.

Grievances

It is anticipated that most accommodation requests will be informally resolved with the instructor  and/or the BYU-Pathway Worldwide Student Wellness Office. If efforts to provide accommodations are  unsatisfactory, students may initiate a grievance through their student portal.

The Student Wellness Committee will review the facts and circumstances of the matter and make a  determination if a reasonable accommodation can be provided. The Student Wellness Committee  documents the resolution by sending a written summary to all parties involved.

In cases where an agreement satisfactory to all of the parties involved is not reached, a Vice-President of  the accredited institution shall make the final determination with respect to the requested  accommodation.
